The CBLDF is kicking the year off right, with some amazing items from our archives! From classic books that every library needs to books signed by some of the greatest authors and artists to work in comics, this round of auctions has something for every fan!
In 1986, Frank Miller and Bill Sienkiewicz rocked the comics world with the release of the brilliant and provocative mini-series Elektra: Assassin. With groundbreaking, painted expressionist artwork, and a story that mixes politics, psychology, and intense characterizations, this was on the vanguard of an important new era of superhero comics that included Watchmen, Arkham Asylum, and The Dark Knight Returns.
Direct from Frank Miller’s personal library, this edition of Elektra: Assassin is the original, long out-of-print Graphitti Designs hardcover, which is signed by Miller on the cover. This is an Artist Proof from the original limited edition run, and is noted as such on the frontispiece, where it is and signed by both Miller and Sienkeiwicz.
This extremely rare edition of an important graphic novel is truly a centerpiece for any collection.
Bloom County was a high water mark of newspaper strips in the 1980s, skewering pop culture, politics, and anything else that crossed it’s path. This hardcover volume from IDW is signed by cartoonist Berkely Breathed.
It comes with a handwritten note on a bookplate designed by Mr. Mazzuchelli and is inscribed again on the title page. The volume features a plate marking it as part of the Will Eisner Library.
Jeff Smith’s amazing follow-up to the smash hit Bone, RASL is a mind-bending tale that mixes art theft, theoretical physics, lost love, and Native American spirituality. This oversized softcover is signed and sketched by the artist, a much-loved and constant CBLDF supporter.
A comics adaptation of The Hedge Knight, one of the prequel tales to the magnificent Song of Ice and Fire saga, George R. R. Martin’s modern masterpiece of fantasy literature. This softcover is signed on the cover by Martin.
One of the most respected and beloved series of the 1990s, Starman continues to be held up as one of the greatest post-modern superhero epics yet written. This hardcover is signed by author James Robinson and signed with a sketch by artist Tony Harris!
