This weekend, CBLDF blows into the Windy City for C2E2! April 25 – 27, you’ll find CBLDF at booth #437 in the South Building of McCormick Place in downtown Chicago (2301 S. Lake Shore Drive) with an abundance of signed exclusives, all benefiting CBLDF’s work defending your right to read comics. We’ll also be on hand for Threadless’s official C2E2 welcome party and panels throughout the weekend.

Artists and fans, join us for a party celebrating everything we love about comic books, graphic novels, sci fi and fantasy. Become your own superhero in the comic photobooth, draw with new friends to create a collaborative mural, drink complimentary brews and purchase grub at some of Chicago’s finest food trucks. Come in cosplay to win a $150 Threadless gift code a Threadless graphic art panel. Artists and doodlers are invited to enter a draw-off for their chance to win $500 in Threadless cash. 60 years ago this month, comics were placed under the scrutiny of the United States government, leading to the formation of the Comics Code: a censorship authority that governed comics for more than 50 years! CBLDF reveals the history of how comics were censored & creators affected by the Code!

Kids Comics Heroes: Raising a Reader

An all-star panel of kids comics creators and educators discuss ways to get children excited about reading, encourage creativity and cultivate a love of literature using great graphic novels and comics. Panelists include Jennifer Holm and Matthew Holm (Babymouse), Alex Cox (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund), Aaron Renier (The Unsinkable Walker Bean) and Jeffrey Brown (Darth Vader and Son). This panel will be moderated by librarian John Schumacher.
