Celebrate the Freedom to Read with the Latest Edition of the CBLDF Banned Books Week Handbook!

Today, Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is proud to release the latest edition of the CBLDF Banned Books Week Handbook! Boasting a cover by Raina Telgemeier, whose book Drama was one of America’s most frequently challenged books in 2014, the CBLDF Banned Books Week Handbook 2015 is a free resource that gives you the scoop about what comics are banned, how to report and fight censorship, and how to make a celebration of Banned Books Week in your community! The CBLDF Banned Books Week Handbook premieres today at the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco.

Young Adult books will be the focus of Banned Books Week, the annual celebration of the freedom to read which will run from September 27 through October 3, 2015, and will be observed in libraries, schools, bookstores and other community settings across the nation and the world. The handbook can be viewed below and you can download it here. Bundles of the printed handbook are also available from CBLDF.org, and in the July issue of Diamond Previews.

Banned Books Week is sponsored by the American Booksellers Association, American Booksellers for Free Expression, American Library Association, American Society of Journalists and Authors, Association of American Publishers, Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, Freedom to Read Foundation, National Association of College Stores, National Coalition Against Censorship, National Council of Teachers of English, PEN American Center, People for the American Way Foundation, and Project Censored.
