Conventions

Attended in 1998:

September 3-6, 1998 -- Dragon Con Preview
North America's largest annual convention for fans of science-fiction and fantasy is September 3-6 in Atlanta; join the CBLDF at the show along with tons of guest. PLUS: Harlan Ellison is this year's Defender of Liberty Award winner.

August 10-16, 1998- Comic-Con International
It was the largest comic book convention of the year, and the CBLDF knew what was in store for those who were San Diego bound! Among the highlights:

  • "The State of Censorship in Comics"
  • Signings with creators like Mark Waid, Will Eisner, and Mark Schultz
  • The CBLDF Benefit Bash


    HeroesCon-- Captain America's Mark Waid to donate to Comic Book Legal Defense Fund each time he's stumped on Cap trivia.

    July 17-19, 1998- Wizard World Chicago '98 You had a chance to win a full-size replica of Han Solo encased in carbonite, as seen in The Empire Strikes Back, courtesy of the CBLDF and The Comix Revolution.


    May 16, 1998- Ramapo High School
    The Ramapo High School Comic Book Club held its 12th annual comic convention on May 16, 1998 in Spring Valley, NY.

    March 13-15, 1998- MegaCon '98
    George Perze, Mark Waid and many more make for a fun con in the sun.

    April 5, 1998- A.C.M.E II
    What is a blue hen? Damned if we know.

    April 3-5, 1998- 5Con
    Four colleges around the CBLDF's home town of Northampton, MA, put on a 5Con. Don't worry about the math.

    February 21-2, 1998- A.P.E. V
    We did some monkeying around with the indys.

    February 29, 1998- Northampton Comic-Con
    The CBLDF's hometown show brought in a substantial set of donations.

    January 24, 1998- Chicago Comic Fest
    The newest convention around brought in over $700.

    January 10, 1998- Big Apple Con
    The staff goes to the urban jungle

    November 29, 1997- MID-OHIO-CON
    Roger Price's convention masterpiece went all out for the CBLDF
