Countdown
to Comic-Con, continued...
THURSDAY, AUGUST 13th: THE COMIC-CON BEGINS
Anyone who's read what the Fund is up to through Connections
98 will have pity for the CBLDF crew, because they know we've already
experienced the excitement and activity of an average convention before
Comic-Con even begins. Even so, the retailer expo has to count as the
calm before the storm, and Comic-Con 98 is certainly a tsunami. For a
full rundown of everything there is to see at the Comic-Con, their site
at Comic-Con.org. For
the barrage of artist appearances and other events at the CBLDF booth
(#603, near the front entrance and directly across from "That's Fumetti"),
read on.
The Comic-Con opens Thursday at 9:45am. Frank Miller fans who didn't
pre-order his "Fight Censorship" T-Shirt will want to make a beeline to
the CBLDF booth, because we only have a few dozen left after Wizard World
98, which nearly cleaned us out. If you're not there Thursday, you may be
out of luck!
Find our what the CBLDF has been up to when Executive Director Chris Oarr
presents his report on The State of Censorship and Comics Thursday
morning at 11am in Room 16B of the convention center. Oarr will be
discussing legislative trends which could have serious consequences for
bookstores, video retailers, and comic shops across the country. Oarr
will also present the Fund's program for 1999, including a new series of
comics now in development depicting infamous moments in the history of
censorship in America. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn more
about the Fund and its mission.
