Conventions

Comic-ConCountdown to Comic-Con, continued...

TUESDAY, August 11th: CONNECTIONS 98

Connections 98 continues on Tuesday with a raft of panels and presentations, including a talk by acclaimed film director and Daredevil writer Kevin Smith, a times management clinic by Harriet Schechter, and various workshops that will help retailers expand their clientele and run better stores.

Among these workshops is the Friends of Lulu seminar on "How to Get Kids in Your Store," moderated by none other than the CBLDF's Chris Oarr. Chris, a proud member of Friends of Lulu, is also a former retail manager with a strong belief in a direct market that can serve everyone, including children. Joining Chris will be a panel of retailers who have shown that pre-teens are important not just as the adolescent and adult fans of the future, but comprise a profitable (if often overlooked) section of today's direct market: Mimi Caroll (Night Flight Comics, Salt Lake City), Jon Cohen (Beyond Comics, Gaithersburg MD), Andrew Hochman (Stand Up Comics, Thousand Oaks CA), and Nancy Tramp (Comics Unlimited, Westminster CA)

.

The Expo hall opens at 1pm Tuesday, after the workshops are through. Retailers who stop by the CBLDF booth are in for a pleasant dose of swag. Not only will every retailer receive a free copy of Free Speeches, but they'll get a Steve Bissette or Peter Kuper CBLDF poster as well. The Fund also will be taking orders on classic CBLDF T-shirts and other premiums as well at an Expo Special of 50% off and free shipping. Retailers are the CBLDF's number one priority, and we hope everyone will come by our booth at Connections 98.

On to Wednesday at Connections 98
