Happy Thanksgiving From CBLDF

A Note From The Executive Director

As everyone settles in for the long weekend of family, friends, food and good cheer, the CBLDF wants to take a moment to recognize the many generous people who make our work possible.

Without the grass roots generosity of our many donors who contribute their hard earned money, the CBLDF wouldn’t be able to assist the people who come to us for help in their First Amendment struggles.  You are literally our life’s blood and we thank you.

We’re lucky that so many incredible creative people give of their time and talent to help us raise money and awareness of our important work.  Whether it’s contributions of art for auctions, signed books as thank yous to our donors, or time given at signings or special events, these donations of your talent make a difference.  We thank all of you.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and work very hard to ensure that the CBLDF is able to serve the comics community.  Whether it’s working in the office making sure that our donors receive their acknowledgments, standing at our table at a con spreading the word, or burning the midnight oil at their desks creating tools to help us communicate our work, our volunteers are the best, and they make a huge difference.  Thank you for being an important part of what we do.

Though everyone has their favorite disparaging joke about lawyers, we at the CBLDF have found a great many generous, kind, and sincere people in the profession who give wholeheartedly of their intelligence and time in the service of the constitution.  We’re thankful to all of the lawyers, legal professionals, and constitutional advocates who help us protect comics.

We’re fortunate to interact with so many thoughtful, excited and talented professionals in the library and education worlds who help us teach people about their rights, and the history of how comics have been attacked.  Thank you for being a part of this important work.

So many people and organizations make CBLDF’s work possible.  Our corporate members – DC, Diamond, Image, and Legendary have contributed to our stability in the rocky economic climate of 2011.  Likewise, the charitable contributions from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, The Freedom to Read Foundation, SPX, and The Will & Ann Eisner Family Foundation have helped us continue to do our work.  A great many convention organizations large and small have contributed table space that allows us to reach our donors, and conference rooms that help us perform our education duties. And an army of journalists, bloggers, and individuals have helped us spread the word about our work.  We thank you all.

CBLDF is fortunate to have such a wide range of energy and support for the work we do to serve the comics community. We are grateful for it.

On behalf of everyone in the CBLDF office and the Board of Directors, thank you for being a part of our work in 2011.

We wish you a most Happy Thanksgiving.
