MAKING WAVES: Comic Retailers On Deck!

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is pleased to announce a new program to encourage comic retailers across the country to join our crew for MAKING WAVES: The CBLDF Fundraising Cruise. For every customer a comic shop signs up for the cruise, the retailer will receive $50 off the price of a ticket. If a store signs up 10 customers, the retailer will receive a free berth on the cruise. Promotional materials and cruise information can be obtained from the CBLDF by calling 1-800-99-CBLDF.

MAKING WAVES is the event of a lifetime for anyone who loves comics. On board, Neal Adams, Kurt Busiek, Dan Clowes, Evan Dorkin, Sarah Dyer, Will Eisner, Neil Gaiman, Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez, Frank Miller, Brian Pulido, P. Craig Russell, Jeff Smith, Adrian Tomine, Matt Wagner, Mark Waid, and more seafaring stars will join up to 200 fans and comics professionals for a week-long luxury cruise on the Mexican Riviera. "Comic retailers are our number one constituency," said CBLDF executive director Chris Oarr. "We definitely want to encourage store owners to come aboard MAKING WAVES and take advantage of this unique opportunity, not just to meet the artists, but also to spend some time with the editors, publishers. And other professionals who will be on board."

MAKING WAVES departs APRIL 9 from LOS ANGELES with ports of call in Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, and Mazatlan. The cruise will feature cocktail parties, slide shows, panel discussions, seminars, and much more comics programming. Cruise-goers will also be able to sign up for dinners and drinks with all the attending pros to guarantee time for some quality conversation. Of course, this is in addition to all the informal hanging-out in the ship's bars, pools, sundecks, restaurants, and casinos. To ask cruise-related questions or to book passage, please contact The Cruise Authority at 1-800-448-1830.

MAKING WAVES is made possible by the generous support of The Comics Journal, Dark Horse Comics, Diamond Comic Distributors, Drawn & Quarterly, NBM Publishing, NextPlanetOver.com, Slave Labor Graphics, and WonderCon. All proceeds from the event benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, a non-profit organization protecting the First Amendment rights of the comics community. To inquire about attending creators and comics programming, please contact the CBLDF at 1-800-99-CBLDF..

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund was founded in 1986 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community. Donations and inquiries should be directed to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
