This weekend the CBLDF makes a return to one of our favorite shows of the year, Emerald City Comic Con. To celebrate this event, we have partnered once again with our friends at Image Comics to present an exclusive CBLDF Liberty Variant for their newest launch Real Heroes, by the legendary Bryan Hitch!
These covers are extremely limited and ONLY available directly from the CBLDF, so if you are in Seattle this weekend, stop by booth 209 and pick up your copy! If you’re not in Seattle, get a friend to pick you up a copy. And if you have no friends, well, now is the time to make one in the Pacific Northwest!
We will have plenty of other premiums for donation as well, including our usual awesome assortment of t-shirts, signed books, and prints (including two NEW prints by the inimitable Frank Miller). We can also sign you up for membership, or renew a lapsed membership. This year’s Membership kit includes a variety of very cool items based on a design by Cully Hamner.
There will also be a CBLDF-sponsored panel this weekend:
Graphic Novels Empowering Super Readers!
Room: TCC 302 / Time: SUNDAY, 1:00PM – 1:50PMCBLDF presents a primer on how kids comics can fuel passion for reading. Award winning graphic novelists Jeff Smith, Nathan Hale, Jimmy Gownley, Royden Lepp and Kazu Kibiushi, along with educator Meryl Jaffe (Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth), provide an informative and entertaining discussion on the outstanding kids graphic novels available and how they can be used to promote literacy, creativity and critical thinking. There will be giveaways and time for Q&A.
This should be a fun and informative look at kid’s comics and kid’s literacy, initiatives that are close to the Fund’s collective heart.
Seattle always shows up strong for the CBLDF, making ECCC one of our biggest weekends for new Members and renewals. Let’s keep that trend going, Seattle! You won the Super Bowl — now let’s win one for Free Speech! See you at booth 209!
