This weekend, the founders of Crazy 8 Press — Peter David, Michael Jan Friedman, Robert Greenberger, Glenn Hauman, Aaron Rosenberg, and Howard Weinstein — take their superhero act on the road to attend Shore Leave 33 and support the CBLDF in the process!
Shore Leave 33, a fan-run science fiction convention, takes place July 8-10, 2011, at the Marriott’s Hunt Valley Inn in Baltimore, Maryland. David, Friedman, Greenberger, Hauman, Rosenberg, and Weinstein are all on hand to celebrate the launch of Crazy 8 Press throughout the weekend. Their celebration includes the writing of an original story on the convention floor, the sale of which will benefit CBLDF’s First Amendment work!
A participatory experience, fans are invited to contribute to the tale by suggesting possible opening sequences on Crazy 8 Press’s Facebook page and during the Friday night opening of the convention. One of these opening sequences will be selected at random, and the tale spun from it will be sold as an e-book on Amazon, barnesandnoble.com, and other online booksellers. Profits from the sale of the book benefit CBLDF, on whose board of directors David currently serves.
Collectively, the founders of Crazy 8 Press have hundreds of books in print, with more than 15 million copies sold. All of them have worked in the comic book industry. They established Crazy 8 Press to bypass traditional publishing, allowing them to bring books directly to their fans through online retailers.
Help Crazy 8 Press celebrate the launch of their revolutionary imprint July 8-10 at Shore Leave 33, where founders Peter David, Michael Jan Friedman, Robert Greenberger, Glenn Hauman, Aaron Rosenberg and Howard Weinstein will write a story to benefit CBLDF!
