Libraries: Apply Now for 2017 Will Eisner Graphic Novel Grants!

Eisner Grants logoCalling all librarians looking to expand their graphic novel offerings and programs: applications are now being accepted for the 2017 Will Eisner Graphic Novel Grants for Libraries!

The annual grants from the Will and Ann Eisner Family Foundation and the American Library Association will provide each of two lucky libraries with the following:

  • A complete set of the books nominated for 2017 Eisner Awards
  • A collection of Will Eisner’s own work and biographies of him
  • $2000 to buy more graphic novels
  • $1000 for graphic novel-related programming
  • $1000 to attend the ALA Annual Conference in June 2017

Two Eisner Grants have been given annually since 2014: the Growth Grant, which provides support to a library that would like to expand its existing graphic novel services and programs; and the Innovation Grant, which provides support to a library for the initiation of a new graphic novel service, program or initiative. ALA members (individual or institutional) from public, school, and academic libraries are invited to apply before the deadline of January 20, 2017. Full application details and instructions can be found at ALA’s website. Good luck to all the applicants!
