NYC High School Seniors Could Win Scholarship for Original Graphic Novel

CWA-GN-Poster-2017_finalNew York City high school seniors have the chance to express themselves and take home up to a $10,000 scholarship for their original comics work, but they’ll need to act soon — entries in the contest must be postmarked by this Friday, February 3.

The Penguin Random House Creative Writing Competition for NYC Public High School Seniors is an annual competition that offers scholarships for graphic novels, personal essay / memoir, poetry / spoken word, and fiction / drama. Entrants in the graphic novel category can be solo creators or creative teams of two or more students, and there is no minimum length for entry in the category.

Scholarship awards include:
  • First Place — $10,000.00
  • Second Place — $5,000.00
  • Third Place — $2,500.00
  • Best of Borough – $1,000.00 for one selected story in each borough (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island)
