CBLDF is looking for writers of all stripes, from talented newcomers to experienced journalists, to add to our roster of bloggers. Whether you can commit to an article a week, an article a month, or an article a year, we want your voice!
CBLDF is looking for writers to help generate ongoing features and website resources related to the First Amendment and free speech issues. In particular, we’re looking for the following:
- diverse writers who bring their own perspective to censorship in their community and around the world
- manga and anime aficionados who can write about the censorship of these burgeoning media
- newshounds who can help us identify and respond quickly to new and developing censorship stories
- librarians and educators who embrace the use of graphic novels and comics
- lawyers and law school students who can help us put that legal fine print into terms regular folks can understand
Our coverage isn’t limited to these topics — if you have something to say, tell us about it!
Each member of our website team will be asked to generate original content about relevant free speech issues for www.cbldf.org with editorial guidance from the Web Editor. Contributors will be asked to pitch ideas for stories and for resources for the website. They may also be tasked by the Web Editor with specific assignments or articles. Our current contributors cover stories and generate original posts that run the gamut from the history of comics censorship to the international suppression of cartooning voices, so there’s a lot of territory to cover!
The blogging positions are voluntary. Articles will be seen by visitors to www.cbldf.org and cross-posted on CBLDF’s Facebook page, Twitter feed, and weekly newsletter, ensuring that several thousand people will see the articles. Contributors will be able to work from anywhere, set their own schedules, build writing and blogging experience, and boost their resumes. You can be on the front lines in supporting our important work in defense of the right to read!
If you are enthusiastic about the First Amendment, a good writer, and able to take editorial direction, you’re a perfect candidate — apply today!
To apply, please send your resume and a writing sample to patricia.mastricolo@cbldf.org.
