The time for the new Comic Book Legal Defense Fund membership card has arrived!
From the moment we saw Saladin Ahmed’s and Artyom Topilin’s “Burning Ambition” in Creepshow Vol. 2, we knew we’d found the perfect image of what’s at stake in the battle to protect freedom of expression through the comic arts. Back in the 1950s, horror comics in the millions were thrown into public bonfires in a misguided attempt to blame comics for society’s ills – now, in this important and timely story, a horror comic provides a powerful reminder of not just how the new generation of graphic novel challenges evoke earlier comic-book burnings, but that deeper forces of history might just be on our side.
