Whether you stopped by the booth to pick up a signed graphic novel or meet a favorite creator for a signature, checked out our panel on comics activism, or partied at Mary O’s with us – thank you for your time, energy, and support!

The floor was crazy, and there were lots of cool booths, but we appreciate how many people came out to support CBLDF at Booth 2258 and bought shirts and signed comics!

Saturday was hectic, but a blast. We had so many amazing comics professionals come by the booth! Special thanks to Jeffrey Brown, Pornsak Pichetshote, Aaron Campbell, Josè Villarrubia, Chip Kidd, Hayden Sherman, Gabriel Bà & Fàbio Moon, and R Sikoryak who donated their time and energy to sign for CBLDF supporters! Plus thanks to all the great fans who came by to meet their favorite comics creators or discover a new favorite by stopping by the booth!

Saturday evening was our Comics Change the World: CBLDF’s History of Activism Comics panel. Hosted by CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein, it was an image-filled look through more than a century of comics activism. The program looked at the social justice themes in Superman, EC Comics history of activism, the politics of Watchmen and V for Vendetta, how Dykes to Watch Out For signaled hope to the LGBTQIA community, and much more. Part history lesson and part inspiration, that activism in comics can and will change the world!

On the other side of town the CBLDF party sponsored by comiXology Originals was just getting underway. With premium cocktails provided by PM Spirits and their incredible on site team, known as The Street Pumas, the atmosphere was fun and drinks were delicious. Fans and comics professionals were there to mix and mingle in a chill place far off front he crowded corridors of the Javitz Center. We are super grateful to everyone who helped make the event a great night, including the CBLDF members and supporters who came out to enjoy themselves!

Sunday was less hectic, but in no way less amazing. More awesome people stopped by the booth to snag rewards for their generous donations, renew their memberships, or meet with Chip Kidd, and Gabriel Bà & Fàbio Moon, who generously came back to hang out with fans and sign stuff again! All in all it was another great day with great people. And we can’t wait until next year when we can do it all over again!

If you didn’t make it to NYCC this year, don’t worry, you can help support CBLDF’s important First Amendment work in 2018 by visiting the Rewards Zone, making a donation, or becoming a member of CBLDF!
