In honor of the 4th of July, CBLDF Retailer Spotlight falls on Rebel Base Comics and Toys in Charlotte, North Carolina, because what were the founding fathers if not Rebels fighting against the Empire? Like a proper secret base, the store resides underground, down an unassuming hallway. However, its location is far from secret, with many loyal browsers filling the packed aisles looking for a new graphic novel, or a classic back issue to finish their collection.
From their site,
Our mission is simple: to provide the best products and service to our customers at the lowest prices possible. We take great pride in our company, our commitment to customer service and in the products we sell.
And they live up to their mission and more, offering a helpful staff that is at the ready for questions and recommendations. They go above and beyond as members of their community too. On Free Comic Book Day, they took the popular event as an opportunity to raise money for the UNC Charlotte scholarship funds, dedicated to the students who lost their lives in the deadly shooting on April 30, 2019. Their commitment to their community is exemplary. They also help the fight for free expression as CBLDF Retail Members, and we are glad to count their support and their store among the ranks of the comics community.
If you’re in the Charlotte area, make sure to stop by and say hi, but if you’re not planning a trip to North Carolina in the near-future, don’t wait. You can check out their online store which offers new items and an eBay shop for their vintage collectibles.
