The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is located in midtown Manhattan, and while we have the very good fortune that our staff and their loved ones were not badly affected by Hurricane Sandy, we are experiencing an interruption in our operations. Because of transportation issues brought by the storm, we were closed all of this week, and unable to process any donations or fulfill any memberships. If you’re waiting for an item from us, we ask for your continued patience while we get back to speed. We hope to reopen the office on Monday, depending on the status of local transportation.
Out of sensitivity to our supporters affected by the devastation wrought by the storm, and deference to the need relief organizations would be expressing this week, we chose to suspend marketing of our Be Counted membership drive. We are still honoring all Be Counted offers. We’re also extending the deadline to pledge for them until midnight Sunday, for those who would like to pledge but have been unable to. But we will not be campaigning out of respect to our neighbors and supporters who were not as fortunate as our staff.
On behalf of the CBLDF staff and board of directors, we express our most sincere best wishes for recovery to everyone affected by the storm, and our true gratitude to everyone who has chosen to support our vital work.
