Hot New Premiums from SPX Now in the Rewards Zone!

A couple weekends ago, CBLDF was proud to host several talented cartoonists in our booth during the Small Press Expo, as they signed books and prints and chatted with fans. If you weren’t lucky enough to attend SPX, you now have a chance to own a small piece of it! We came back with a handful of books and other items from Brandon Graham (King City, Prophet), Michael Cho (Shoplifter), and Jules Feiffer (Kill My Mother). The proceeds from these items support CBLDF’s inportant work defending the right to read.

Kill My Mother, signed by Jules Feiffer

Adding to a legendary career that includes a Pulitzer Prize, an Academy Award, Obie Awards, and Lifetime Achievement Awards from the National Cartoonist Society and the Writers Guild of America, Jules Feiffer now presents his first noir graphic novel. Kill My Mother is a loving homage to the pulp-inspired films and comic strips of his youth. Channeling Eisner’s The Spirit, along with the likes of Hammett, Chandler, Cain, John Huston, and Billy Wilder, and spiced with the deft humor for which Feiffer is renown, Kill My Mother centers on five formidable women from two unrelated families, linked fatefully and fatally by a has-been, hard-drinking private detective. Rupert Can Dance, signed by Jules Feiffer

Rupert has a big secret. When his owner, Mandy, is fast asleep, he likes to slip on her dancing shoes and dance the night away. Then, one night Mandy catches Rupert in the act. She’s not upset; she’s thrilled! Signed by creator Jules Feiffer. Donate now

Tantrum, signed by Jules Feiffer

The story of suburban disenchantment, Tantrum is the story of respectable and responsible businessman, Leo Quog, who, in the throes of a mid-life crisis, willfully regresses to the age of two. Having been two before, Leo demands his rights as a toddler: cuddling, cooing, tummy rubbing, and, most importantly, piggyback rides. In Leo’s case, youth is definitely not wasted on the young. Feiffer has the uncanny ability to capture the frustrations of everyday life, while showing the lengths we’ll go to escape from it. Donate now

Shoplifter, signed by Michael Cho

Corinna Park used to have big plans. In college, she imagined writing a best-selling novel and leading the idealized life of an author. After graduation, she moved to a big city and took a job at an advertising agency — just to pay off her student loans. Now, she’s worked in the same office for five years and the only thing she’s written is copy. She feels numbed by the monotony of a life experienced through a series of screens. But whenever she shoplifts a magazine from the corner store near her apartment, she feels a little more alive. Yet Corinna knows there must be something more to life, and she faces the same question as does everyone of her generation: how to find it? Donate now

Before he broke new ground and shot to the forefront of the comics industry with King City and Prophet, Brandon Graham created Multiple Warheads, a slice-of-life take on an alternate version of Russia rooted in science-fiction and fantasy. The original one-shot comic starred Sexica, an organ smuggler, and her werewolf boyfriend Nikoli, who worked as a mechanic. Out of print for years, Multiple Warheads is now reprinted, along with a more recent miniseries, in this edition. Donate now
