CBLDF Debuts Comics – Start Here! At ALA in New Orleans

CBLDF is proud to release Comics — Start Here! This resource for librarians provides an introduction to developing a graphic novel collection, including brand new research on cataloging graphic novels undertaken by Staci Crouch, Hallie Clawson, and Allison Bailund at University of Washington iSchool, Comics — Start Here! will be available from CBLDF at ALA Annual in the Lion Forge booth #549 and as a free download here.

Comics Start Here utilizes data from a recent survey that CBLDF sponsored to create new shelving guidelines, that will help reduce confusion and streamline the organization process. The publication also offers basic information on graphic novels and manga, as well as handling challenges to comics in libraries.

Pick up a hard copy of Comics — Start Here! June 22 – 25 at ALA in New Orleans, the American Library Association’s Annual Conference. CBLDF will be located Booth #549, as part of the Lion Forge booth. Lion Forge is a trans-media studio with a focus on comics publishing across all age groups, that sponsored the Comics Start Here publication, and has recently joined CBLDF as a corporate member.
