TFAW Announces Fourth Annual SDCC Autograph Card and CBLDF Auction Event

For the past three years, Things From Another World has played a pivotal role in collecting original artwork for CBLDF’s annual Comic-Con International charity auction, helping the Fund raise more than $75,000 in the process. They’re at it again this year, and they’ve already lined up some comics superstars to help raise money for our important First Amendment work!

The official press release from TFAW:

CHARLIE ADLARD & MORE JOIN TFAW’S FOURTH ANNUAL SDCC AUTOGRAPH CARD/CBLDF AUCTION EVENT

June 5, 2011, Portland OR–For the past three years, Things From Another World (TFAW) and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) have teamed up with comics artists like Charlie Adlard, Jeffrey Brown, Tim Seeley, and more to help raise more than $75,000 for the annual CBLDF auction at San Diego Comic-Con. Now, TFAW and CBLDF are happy to announce their Fourth Annual SDCC Autograph Card/CBLDF Auction event!

As in years past, TFAW is asking artists to create original sketches to donate to the CBLDF auction at San Diego Comic-Con. Artists can choose to sketch their own creator-owned characters, or one of DC Comics’ proprietary characters. Plus, up to seven artists can create sketches featuring Marvel’s Mighty heroes!

In exchange for their donations, participating artists will receive 300 free limited-edition autograph cards of their sketches to distribute in San Diego, with one big change: this year, the cards will be in color, if the artists so desire! TFAW will also give out additional copies of these autograph cards at booth #5625 during SDCC.

“This is a project that is close to our hearts,” said TFAW Senior Director of Retail Operations Andrew McIntire. “Supporting the First Amendment Rights of the comics community is more important than ever, and we’re grateful for the generous support of the dozens of artists who have taken part over the years.”

“Our annual SDCC auction is crucial to helping the CBLDF achieve our goals and defend the First Amendment rights of the comics community,” said CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein. “We’ve received some incredible pieces, and we’re continually astonished by the helping hand the community offers each year.”
In addition to the autograph cards, TFAW and the CBLDF will highlight each artist and their sketch on The Blog From Another World. To coordinate your inclusion in this event, please contact Andrew McIntire at andrewm@tfaw.com by June 8th with the subject line “CBLDF 2011 Auction” or via phone at 503.905.2395. Print-quality .EPS or .TIFF files for the autograph cards must be received by June 15th, and the original sketch can either be sent to the CBLDF’s NYC office by July 1st, or delivered to their SDCC booth by July 13th.

TFAW has already seen a groundswell of support this year, with Charlie Adlard, Francesco Francavilla, Roger Langridge, Francis Manapul, Brian Buccellato, Jeffrey Brown, Erika Moen, and more signing on.
