On August 31, Judge Alan Albright of the U.S. District Court in Austin, Texas, stated that he plans to issue a preliminary injunction in Book People et al. v. Wong, in which the CBLDF joined bookstores and other free speech groups to challenge the constitutionality of the state’s new law requiring books to be rated for school use. The full order should be out in a week or two, but the injunction against enforcement of the statute in its entirety is effective as of August 31.
The State of Texas plans to appeal.
