If you happen to be in New York City on May 29, consider joining CBLDF board member Jeff Smith, the creator of Bone and RASL, to celebrate the freedom to read!
Smith will join bestselling young adult authors Carolyn Mackler (The Future of Us; The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things) and David Levithan (Two Boys Kissing; Will Grayson, Will Grayson) as guests of honor at the celebration of the Freedom to Read Foundation’s 45th anniversary. CBLDF has frequently partner with FTRF to defend books and the right to read, and CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein recently joined the board FTRF Board of Trustees.
During the celebration, attendees will
• LEARN about FTRF’s litigation, education, and grant-making efforts
• DISCOVER how you can get more involved in supporting the First Amendment in libraries and beyond
• CONSIDER becoming a card-carrying member of the Foundation and/or making a donation to support our work
• SOCIALIZE with other supporters of the freedom to read
The celebration takes place on May 29, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m., at the Scholastic Greenhouse (557 Broadway, New York, New York). Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. To find out more and to register for the event, visit the event page here.
